Shit From Nowhere Vol. 2

Volume number 2 is here! I was so pumped with how Volume 1 turned out that I contacted my friends again and got the ball rolling on Volume 2. This time around it’s Randy Vale, Kyle Cannon, Ryan Newhouser, and myself. I must say that I am stoked with how it turned out. I think this is going to become like a quarterly thing, with a new zine every 4 months or so. We are also talking about opening it up more to other artists who are interested, as well as maybe including some writings and/or short stories. I think this can be a cool way to have a bunch of talented people work together. I honestly can say that I am really excited with where this project is going.

Last month I participated in the Dish It Out plate show, which took place in the Gallery at the Art Institute of Jacksonville. The show was awesome. So much killer artwork. I submitted two designs for the show. Each participating artist was given a round paper template to create their design on and were limited to only using Crayola washable markers. The templates were then mailed out to be adhered to plates. I really just tried to have fun with my designs and I’m really happy with how they turned out.

Are Those Eames Bucket Chairs?

At the July Artwalk, I participated in the SALVAGED art show, along with a numerous of other extremely talented artists. My entry for the show was a Bucket chair that I cleaned up drastically. I spent a few days just sanding it, trying to get all the rust off so I could paint and draw on it. Although I only submitted one chair for the show, I actually did two chairs. I have been wanting to draw on a bucket chair ever since I saw the Eames Bucket Chairs that Mike Perry did a while back. Not sure if the ones I did are actual Eames chairs or replicas, but either way I’m stoked I got the chance to do them.

Mitch’s Macbook

So a couple of days ago, my friend Mitch was over hanging out and he came up with this awesome idea of letting me draw on his Macbook. Any chance I get to draw on something that isn’t paper, I make sure to take. I have fun drawing on random things, such as furniture, shoes, and in this case, Mitch’s Macbook. I’m pretty stoked with how it came out. Since his Macbook is black, I used Silver pens on it. Check it out.

Jacksonville Magazine Hipster Fashion

This month is the Essential Guide to Life in the River City 2010 Sourcebook edition of Jacksonville Magazine, the magazine of northeast Florida for over 25 years. This issue is an overview of everything Jacksonville. Under the shopping Retail Therapy section of the mag on pg 68, our shoes from the shoe show at Underbelly, which we collaborated on a few months back, are featured under the Hipster category. I want to drop a big thanks to the wonderful ladies over at Anomaly / Underbelly for putting on a great show, and to Jacksonville Magazine for including us in this issue.
